We received seven application for membership to the Board. The membership sub-committee narrowed the pool down to three and Leah set up appointments for Tom and Betsy to speak with them.

Sean Mosely, Digital Preservation Technical Specialist, National Library of New Zealand
Juha Lehtonen, Digital Preservation Specialist, CSC – IT Center for Science, Finland

All three have strong support from their institutions; they all said that they could attend face-to-face meetings when associated with library conferences. It was decided that all three would be invited to join the Board. They will undergo orientation and it was suggested that we set up peer-to-peer mentoring with current members of the Board. [Afterword: Since the meeting three members have volunteered: Tom will work with Aaron, Leah with Sean, and Jukka will work with Juha]

There was further discussion about membership of the Board and levels of participation. The MODS Editorial Board also dealt with fractional participation and their experience could serve as a model.

Congratulations to Karin and Tom on the publication of Digital Preservation Metadata for Practitioners, in which each has authored a chapter.

There was discussion about where the face-to-face meeting for 2016 should be, and a Google spreadsheet (https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Xa6sK7eoDppNSy4Gkbin1clym52oQ0qbD_Rvitdtqks/edit?usp=sharing) was created for everyone to enter possibilities.

At the next meeting we will take stock of where we are, what our priorities are, and general rebooting for the upcoming year.
