2016 11 10 Board Meeting
One question the PREMIS EC wants to ask the METS Board is about the sentence "In addition, ID/IDREF constructs have been provided in the PREMIS schemas that provide linkages between PREMIS related elements (RelObjectXmlID, LinkEventXmlID, LinkPermissionStatementXmlID, RelEventXmlID, linkingObjectXmlID, LinkAgentXmlID, GrantAgentXmlID)." (point 5). It appears that the case where such elements are needed, in addition to METS ID/IDREF constructs and PREMIS Xidentifier/linkingXIdentifier, is not clear any more to the PREMIS EC. If no one can bring a clarification about the reason why choosing these elements, the PREMIS EC might propose to erase this sentence from the PREMIS in METS guidelines.
Removing the sentence from the guidelines makes sense.
METS Board should review the new guidelines [Action: review by Nov 30; email reminder]
review committee will convene soon [Action: Tom will schedule after Nov 27]
wait till new members are on board
[Action: add a note to http://www.loc.gov/standards/mets/mets-schemadocs.html ]
Discussed a proposal that METS Board will not pursue a METS in linked data.
Folks who were working on a METS RDF should evaluate PCDM.
