TAB Charter - Establishing Task Forces

The Technical Advisory Board (TAB) recognizes the need for specialized focus on certain technical areas or tasks from time to time. To address these needs, the TAB can establish temporary task forces. These task forces are instrumental in tackling specific challenges or projects that require dedicated attention and expertise.

Purpose of Task Forces

  • Focused Attention: Task forces are created to concentrate on specific technical areas, projects, or tasks that require intensive focus and specialized knowledge.
  • Efficient Problem-Solving: They enable the TAB to efficiently address complex issues or accelerate progress in certain areas of the OHDSI open source projects.

Formation of Task Forces

  • Identifying the Need: The need for a task force is identified by the TAB, often based on emerging challenges, project requirements, or community feedback.
  • Member Selection: Task force members are selected based on their expertise and interest in the specific area. This can include TAB members as well as experts from the broader OHDSI community.
  • Defined Scope and Duration: Each task force has a clearly defined scope, objectives, and duration, ensuring focused and time-bound efforts.

Operation and Reporting

  • Autonomous Functioning: Task forces operate autonomously within the scope defined by the TAB, allowing them flexibility and agility in their operation.
  • Regular Reporting: They report their progress and results regularly to the entire TAB and the OHDSI community, maintaining transparency and alignment with the overarching goals of the OHDSI open source projects.

Task forces play a crucial role in the TAB's strategy to address specific needs effectively. They bring together focused expertise and enable agile responses to technical challenges in OHDSI open source projects.
