Spawn
The server spawn, colloquially known as "Spawn", is located at the origin of the world (0,0) and is where all players start their journey in SettleScape. It was the first structure to be built on the server, and is a mostly-underwater glass and steel structure located just on the edge of a large coral reef. It is right in the center of the Western Sea. The entire spawn region is protected to help prevent spawn chunks from decreasing the server TPS, and also to encourage players to build far away from the world origin (Spawn's biome also assists with this.).
There is not much to do at Spawn by design -- players are encouraged to read the wiki and get on a boat and leave. Regardless, there are beds for sleeping, community chests and Enderchests, a series of books (which have since been supplanted by this wiki), and an unused server shop. On the bottom floor are a Nether portal leading to the server jail, a donor-only End portal, a map wall, and a few empty portal frames.
The stained glass at Spawn is composed of 4 colors: lime, light blue, magenta, and orange. These colors (plus the light gray of the iron blocks) correspond to the colors of the server ranks, in order. Each of the four hues is 90° apart, making them all equidistant from their neighboring hues on a color cylinder. Additionally, the diagonal in which each color lies was chosen in rough accordance with the four corners of a circle in conventional Ceremonial Magick, wherein Earth is green and North, Water is blue and West, Air is yellow and East, and Fire is red and South. Averaging yellow and red yields orange for the Southeast; averaging red and blue yields magenta for the Southwest; averaging blue and green yields cyan for the Northwest (represented by Light Blue); and averaging green and yellow yields yellow-green for the Northeast (represented by Lime). Accordingly, each non-Wanderer rank is associated not only with a specific color, but also with a direction and two classical elements. Wanderer has only one element, Spirit.
Some significance is placed in which cardinal direction a player first chooses to travel.
