| Michael Wetter, LBNL | Casper Fu, LBNL | Massimo Cimmino, Polytechnique Montreal | Alessandro Maccarini, Aalborg University | Victor Braciszweski, Smith Group | Fabian Wuellhorst, RWTH Aachen
To be presented next time when Jelger is also present.
Michael shared outline that was discussed. Short space to describe new models, come up with one way to define each model and replicate with other for consistency. Michael to share OverLeaf paper outline with abstract authors. Fabian to come up with first model description structure that other people will follow.
Michael to update CI testing.
Michael made PR https://github.com/ibpsa/modelica-ibpsa/pull/1946 Ready for review.
The CDL specification is at https://obc.lbl.gov/specification/cdl.html
Fabian to provide a review.
Is anyone working on
- inclined boreholes
- energy piles
- adding option for coaxial pipes to existing borehole/borefield models (check Buildings branch issue2906_iceStoDisCoo)
Massimo plans to first look into horizontal systems, with applications also to pipes.
Inclined boreholes is in discussion with Jianjun, will need different g-function calculations.
Massimo could help on reviewing coaxial pipes. See also https://rygancorp.com/our-process/
Is anyone working on
-
4 pipe AWHP
-
6 pipe WWHP --> Fabian mentioned model developed by his colleague with multidimensional array performance maps. There is a gap in the Modelica standard library for n-dimensional combi tables.
-
Dynamic model for defrost --> Ettore working with Donghun to validate grey box model.
Fabian is working on a validation of a defrost model.
Alessandro had a meeting with TU Delft, where we agreed on a set of simulation cases that vary based on three parameters: injection temperature (5°C, 20°C, 40°C), building size (10 kW, 100 kW, 1000 kW), and storage cycle (daily, weekly, and seasonal). The TU Delft team is currently running these simulations using SEAWAT. Once they complete their task, we will compare their results with those obtained from the Modelica-based simplified model.
Mohammed will go to TU Delft to work on validation of the Modelica model. Expected results before summer 2025.
Moved to the master branch.
No updates.

Closed for now as this needs more research.
New models to be developed/integrate:
- Discussions about others and future development, such as
- APPROVED
- enthalpy and energy recovery wheel (Oakridge national lab is working on a model for the Buildings that could be integrated)
- validation of models (No updates)
- CDL integration (https://github.com/ibpsa/modelica-ibpsa/pull/1946)
- preconfigured controls (No updates)
- NEED MORE DISCUSSION
- NEW: Zoned borefields (https://github.com/lbl-srg/modelica-buildings/pull/3812) (could be moved to IBPSA)
- thermal storage (No updates)
- better dynamic ground coupling of long district pipes (PR merged into Buildings, to be moved to IBPSA)
- more geothermal (horizontal loop, slinky loop, others) (Massimo could look into specific modelling efforts that have been done by co-workers)
- APPROVED
No update.
Work on pull request.
None.
