Minutes

Miscellanous: No expert meeting at American Modelica conference, not enough people will be able to make it. Probably first in person meeting will be at BS2025

ATES model

Alessandro is currently working on validation against measurements, colleagues working on detailed fidelity models (couple of months).

ISO 13790 models

Alessandro presentation:

  • 5R1C model easy to parametrize, simpler with respect to existing reduced order model in the library (German standard 7R2C)
  • Model passes all heating BESTEST (960 multizone not tested), and almost passes all cooling bestest (apart from 3)
  • Next steps: integrate new Bestest, python scrypt to automatically run BESTEST in the IBPSA library (models are already in IBPSA and Buildings)
  • There is a version of the model for the with air volumes for ventilation
  • Add ISO1379 into reduced order and create subpackage VDI60007. Michael Added issue on IBPSA GitHub. Rename models in Equivalent temperature (currently VDI60007 and VDI60007with window, to withwindow and withoutwindow).

PV collector, battery and electrical component models

Laura is addressing review's comments, especially related to style for the documentation. One good example is the documentation of the movers.

Modular heat pump

Discussion between Fabian and Antoine:

  • Control compressor speed vs setpoint temperature. For now model merged with compressor speed control, to be added later on module to switch from compressor to setpoint temperature.
  • Nominal performance a bit hard to add if both heating and cooling are present. Fabian will address them.
  • Model not ready to use to represent part load performance.
  • Antoine: To discuss with Michael on how to make the heat pump model ready. One test model has issues translating with openModelica due to Movers formulation (wrong sizing evaluation), problem on openModelica side, to be added to exclusion list

New state selection

https://github.com/ibpsa/modelica-ibpsa/issues/1412

Michael work on model initialization? Difference of pressure instead of absolute pressure (in theory is better, in numerical simulation it seems inconclusive it depends on the models, scaling seems to work better) Comparison speed vs accuracy? (speed and if models actually run). Maybe use bounded attribute of real variables.

OCT has been updated and it is a work in progress.

Solar Thermal Model

Pull request created and ready to be reviewed. After pull request is reviewed, new things Jelger would like to add:

  • Wants to add parallel and series of modules
  • Improve incidence angle modifier function (now 0-60, but datasheets 0-90) There are two pull requests, one to be removed. Michael will look into reviewing the PR.

Integration of new models into the library

New models to be developed/integrate:

  • Discussions about others and future development, such as
    • APPROVED
      • enthalpy and energy recovery wheel (Oakridge national lab is working on a model for the Buildings that could be integrated)
      • validation of models (No updates)
      • CDL integration (No updates)
      • preconfigured controls (No updates)
    • NEED MORE DISCUSSION
      • thermal storage (No updates)
      • better dynamic ground coupling of long district pipes (Ettore is working on a PR for buildings library, almost ready for review)
      • CHP and organic Rankine cycle (Casper is working on a PR for Buildings library)
      • more geothermal (horizontal loop, slinky loop, others) (Massimo could look into specific modelling efforts that have been done by co-workers)

OpenSCALING project updates

Kick-off meeting in November. If interested in an advisory board work with Oliver Lenord to issue NDA contract. Come up with requirements:
data source large models (compilation, simulation, optimization, UQ) provide library of models computationally expensive ones numerically problematic ones (see also https://ibpsa.github.io/modelica-challenge-problems/)
