This section describes the functionality of all the switches, jumpers and connectors of the USB Morse keyer PCB.

Top-side of the PCB

  1. J1 - KEY-IN : Attach either straight key or iambic paddle using 6.35mm TRS Jack as follows:

If this unit is intended to use with straight key connect it's two terminals to COM and S. For lambic paddles connect ground terminal to COM, DIT terminal to S and, DAH to T.

To avoid interferences, use a shielded cable between the keyer and unit.

  2. J2 - AF-OUT : Low power audio output. This output can be used with transceiver's MIC-IN or LINE-IN. This terminal provides constant output amplitude with independent from (RV1) VOLUME control.

  3. J3 - USB : Use this socket to connect auto keyer with PC / host terminal.

  4. J4 - SPK-OUT : Use this socket to attach external speaker into auto keyer.

  5. J6 - PTT-CON : Push-to-talk control output. Open collector output to control PTT relay or logic circuit.

  6. J8 - DC-IN : Power supply input. Provide 7V to 16V regulated DC voltage. The most recommended working voltage is 9V.

  7. SW1 - CONTROL/MODE : Rotary encoder for menu selections. In idle mode press this control to open the "system settings" menu.

  8. SW2 - PTT : Manual override switch for push-to-talk. Use this switch to control push-to-talk output (J6) manually.

  9. SW3 - MEMORY : Function key for "memory manager" related operations. In idle mode press this button to open the "memory manager" menu.

  10. RV1 - VOLUME : Output volume control.

  11. D1 - OUTPUT : Morse code output indicator.

  12. D2 - PTT : push-to-talk status indicator.

Bottom-side of the PCB

  1. SW4 - RESET : System reset button.

  2. RV2 - LCD-INT : Contract control of LCD.

  3. J7 - PTT-EXT : Extended push-to-talk output. This header can use to get multiple PTT interfacing options from the auto keyer. This interface is described in details at the "Extended push to talk output" section of this documentation.

  4. J9 - SPK-8R : Internal speaker connector. Use this header to connect 8Ω - 2W speaker into the auto keyer.
