Professor Simon Kemp is a Professor of English at the University of Maryland, College Park. He has been passionate about creative writing and storytelling ever since elementary school, and he now enjoys spreading that same love for the art to his students. He wakes up every morning around 7:00 to make the 30--sometimes 40--minute commute from Southwest Baltimore to College Park, where he spends most of his day lecturing students and hosting office hours, and he tries to make it home by 6:00 every workday to eat dinner with his wife, Abigail, and his two boys, James and John. Simon's family is his greatest source of joy. His greatest professional joys, however, come from the individual relationships he's forms with his students and watching them grow in their appreciation for literature. Simon's Advanced English Literature students are separated into two recitation classes, one that meets on Thursdays, and the other on Fridays. The Thursday section is taught by a graduate level TA named Melanie Vitcus, while the Friday section is taught by a graduate level TA named Gabrielle Jones. Simon has begun to notice that some of his students are coming to class better prepared and more enthusiastic than others.
Simon loves helping his students succeed, and is curious if there is a correlation between his students' success rates and their TA's.
Professor Kemp wants to more readily access information that will provide him feedback on not only himself, but his TA's so that he can better guide them on how to teach their students.
