Intro

The AAPPcie is responsible for the organization of the AAPP (Amsterdam Algorithm Programming Preliminaries), a competitive programming contest for VU students. The committee is also involved with the qualifications of Google Hash Code, delivers coaches for BAPC/NWERC teams, and likes to motivate STORM members to save Christmas during Advent of Code.

Short Advertisement for the Committee Day/Week

The AAPP (Amsterdam Algorithm Programming Preliminaries) committee organises the preliminaries of the the Benelux Algorithm Programming Contest (BAPC). BAPC is an annual ICPC contest where participants have to solve as many programming problems as possible in a certain time frame. Students from different universities from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg participate in this competitive programming contest. Next to AAPP, the committee also organise other programming contest such as AAPJE (Amsterdam Algorithm Programming Junior Event), a contest for first year VU students and the qualification for Google Hash Code.

Do you think you can organise a large event, do you want to arrange a location and make sure all the participants have a great day? Or do you want to learn about Linux, servers, installing a lot of desktops or automated judging? Then you should apply to join the AAPPcie. The committee is also suitable for international students and first year students.

Technical Considerations

We decide what we want on a fresh installation of a linux-based operating system, currently RHEL or Ubuntu. Kindly ask VU-IT if they are willing to sponsor the technical setup at some location on campus. The Linux Endpoint Automation team at VU-IT are genius people who can, and will (read: might), make this happen.

List of things (Work in Progress):

  • operating system
  • editors
  • compilers
  • IDE's
  • browser configuration
  • firewall/ip-tables
  • user/team accounts
  • gui (desktop bg, etc)
