Parts

The following is a list of parts you will need for installation of the new SKR Mini E3 CPU / Adaptrboard. Some of these parts are optional depending on your existing equipment and what your wish to add.

Required

In addition to your Printrbot Simple Metal (or other Printrbot printer), you will need the following:

  • BIGTREETECH SKR Mini E3 V1.2
  • Adaptrboard Kit (for your specific printer model)
  • 3D printed Control Board Mount, Fan Shroud, and Front/Rear Feet (see Step 2 )
  • 30mm x 30mm x 15mm 12V Fan
  • 2-Pin Micro JST 1.25 Connector Header (or whatever connector fits the fan above)
    • (may be included standard as part of future Adaptrboard kits)

Optional

There are also a variety of optional pieces you may wish to include in your install:

M3 Nut version of the Mounting Board

You can choose to use the M3 Nut version of the mounting board in Step 2. If you do, you will need the following:

  • (4) M3x15 bolts
  • (4) M3 Nuts

MOSFET Heat Sink

The MOSFETs controlling the Heated Bed and, to a lesser degree, the extruder can get hot. To add a heat sink that will help dissipate this heat, you can get:

  • (1) Heatsink - ~20mm x 10mm (will cover both MOSFETs)

Molex Power Connector

You will need a way of connecting your power supply to the new CPU. If your original Printrbot used an ATX power supply that plugged into a 4 or 6 pin molex connector on your Printrboard, an option is to construct a lead that will bridge the male connector on your power supply with the terminal on the SKR:

  • (1) 4 or 6 pin female ATX Molex connector + pins (depending on your existing connection)
  • (~2 feet) 12 gauge wire
  • Heatshrink wrap
  • Crimping tools or soldering iron (to connect the wire with the pins)

Heated Bed Power Extension

If you have a heated bed, it is likely your existing power connection will not reach the new terminal, and you will need to solder or crimp on an extension:

  • (~2 feet) 12 gauge wire
  • Heatshrink wrap
  • Crimping tools or soldering iron (to connect the new wire to the end of the existing one)

Printrbot LED bar (NeoPixel)

If you have a Printrbot/NeoPixel LED bar, you will need a 3-pin cable with JST-XH ends to connect the LED bar with the SKR. You can either buy one long enough to make the connection directly, or buy a short one, cut off one end, and splice the wires to the ends of your existing connection wires.

  • (1) 3 Pin JST-XH Female to Female Connector Cable
  • Heatshrink wrap
  • Wire Strippers + soldering iron (to connect the new wire to the end of the existing one)
