Contribuyente sounds as tax payer. Does it make sense to use "contribuidor"? => "Las personas usuarias y contribuidoras. We may use "participantes" as well.

I agree that "contribuyente" is commonly associated with taxpayers. In this case, I believe "colaboradores" could make a stronger case. What do you think?

Hey guys! Thanks for checking it out. "Contribuyente" is the way the spanish github version defines contributors, the same goes for " comentarios" and "propuestas". These are terms I got from github in spanish and I'm using them to provide context for the folks who are going to read it in spanish, while they use github in spanish.

Personally, I disagree with the idea that it will be associated with taxes since it's talking about the project's documentation and their users and contributors...
Also in the documentation there's a slight distinction between collaborators and contributors, so with this in mind + the reference from github in spanish I would stick to "contribuyentes"

As this is already done, happy to move forward with contribuyente. As a suggestion to avoid having never-ending discussions, let's move the style guide and vocabulary definitions to Slack or other Issue thread and keep evolving this one. The right word may be one of these never-ending discussions, even more if we come from different countries, although this is a very interesting one I have to say.

Here, and more as a matter of guide styles. Are you using open source instead of software libre? The good thing about Spanish is that "libre" works for both (free software and open source).

I'm using the term open source, to mean exactly that. If you know a translated wide-spread term for "open source" in spanish let me know. Also, I've never heard of "software libre" so I'm not sure about it.

I just found the term "Software de código abierto" to refer to open source software. What do you guys think about that, should we use it to refer to open source?

We could go for open source then. At least in Spain "software libre" is the term to use. I've been checking a couple of places as Wikipedia and the FSF, and both use the term software libre.
I think it's worth discussing two things at least: a) bring together a kind of a common style guide (I think you've already mentioned this in another thread). I know people at Mozilla Hispano and other communities have already dealt and solved this issue, we may ask them or look for references :). I've indeed tried to find some out there as in Mozilla Hispano, but have not found the right link yet. And b) open the discussion to either localize per country, or agree on a common vocabulary.
