This update to the Blender A-Frame Exporter enhances the development workflow by introducing a built-in local server, eliminating the need for external tools like VS Code and Live Preview. Now, you can preview your exported A-Frame scenes directly in your browser with a single click!
Key Features:
Integrated Local Server: Easily launch a local server directly from the add-on's interface, making it simple to test and iterate on your WebXR experiences.
Port Selection: Customize the server port to avoid conflicts with other applications.
Streamlined Workflow: No more switching between Blender and other tools for local testing.
Antivirus/Firewall: Ensure your antivirus or firewall software is not blocking the chosen port. You might need to add an exception for the port to allow the server to run.
Port Conflicts: If you encounter issues starting the server, try a different port number.
Development Focus: The built-in server is primarily for development and testing. For production deployments, consider using a more robust web server solution.
Getting Started:
Download and install the add-on from the Releases page.
Create or open your scene in Blender.
Go to File > Export > A-Frame (.html).
In the export settings, enable the "Start Local Server" option and choose a port number.
Click Export A-Frame. Your scene will be exported, and the local server will start automatically.
Open your web browser and navigate to http://localhost:[port number] to view your scene.
We hope this update improves your WebXR development workflow! Please share your feedback and any issues you encounter so we can continue to enhance the add-on.
Happy exporting and testing!
