Iter2 office service, routing service, and language

alkerr edited this page Jun 3, 2018 · 29 revisions

Introduction

In this iteration we will work on compiling office data, and coverting it to json object that can be used for the program. at the same time we will be working on the routing service, which will be responsible for choosing a suitable route for the user, based on his location and destination, and also working on the language service.

Overview

This document summarizes this iteration, it is about getting something that is partly usable to use it as reference to how have we progressed in the project until now, we will follow the kanban board, we also begin to plan for the next iteration.

Iteration Goals

Our goal in this iteration is to provide a presentable product that can demonstrate it's functionality, in order to do so we will make a simple GUI that uses the current code to show where has the project reached so far.

Iteration Plan

We will split into three teams and do the following:

  • Convert destination information into JSON file
  • Build programming environment in angular
  • Finish writing the language service and connect it to angular
  • Finish writing the routing service module
  • Build translation objects and start adding translations

Iteration results

Carlos:

  • finished the graph for the college, it now covers the whole campus.
  • finished making the graphing service that converts the graph into a usable form that can be used with the previous iterations services(graphing and distances).
  • finished applying all the correct distances in the graph so that it properly connects the college in the real world to the graph
  • finished making the graph making interface that is used in the graph making program

Antonio:

  • finished making the graph making program, and added all the functionality needed to build the graph and modify it, based on the other team members requests and in conjunction with their progress.
  • finished making the graph viewing interface so that the other members can implement the graph in their parts of the work.
  • finished the program's file architecture, and modify it to fit the hosting sites.
  • reworked the graph making program to fit it to github hosting, now it can be viewed directly from github, with the latest version.

John:

  • finished porting the program to angularjs because angular2 doesn't support javascript libraries.
  • finished making the menus file architecture: added the support for multi-language elements and language service.
  • finished making the map elements such as markers and routes, with the functions to connect them to the menus
  • finished the office information json architecture, which will enable the other parts of the program to use it.

Lina

  • finished translating the collected Data into Arabic and Hebrew language .
  • creating the JSON file ,in the file we decided to concert that wee have a one building . the building has all the floors each floor has its offices and classes and libraries .
  • collecting the coordination of each section/office/class by using the Azrieli Map - testing verion .
  • finding the closest_way point also by using the Azrieli Map - testing verion for each office .
  • adding the opening time for each office and service in the JSON file .

Muhammad

  • Initiated angular 2 and discovered leafletJS issues with angular 2, reported to hanna and helped with angularJS
  • Finished collecting all the data and the information of the offices, services, classrooms, and the lecturers that are needed for this project.
  • Fixed services in JSON file.
  • Finished adding all the services in the translation file in different languages.

Work progress

We encountered some problems, unfortunately it took a lot of extra efforts and time until we solved them.

  • angular 2 doesn't support javascript libraries, meaning it's difficult to use with leaflet: we used angularjs instead.
  • leaflet views the college map as a globe (we found out late), meaning the graphing and routing services wont measure the distances correctly: we had to work around this issue by using a lot of math and working around leaflet library, one example: we had to unproject(unwrap) the real world, unproject the leaflet college map, rotate and scale each axis to make them line up, move the maps until they match, rotate scale and move the map again to restore its coordinates. so that we can measure the distance correctly in the leaflet college map.

Other than that the members worked hard to finish their parts in this iteration.

Work division in this iteration

  • Lina and Muhammad: We have divided the work between the two of us, Muhammad did all the translation needed in order to create three objects, an object for each language (English, Hebrew, and Arabic), after collecting all the data and information needed from the college. lina took the part of making the JSON file and finding the coordination of each service and place in the collage , lina also took the part of translating the collected data into Arabic and Hebrew , then lina used the Azrieli Map in order to find the closest way point for each place .

  • Carlos and Antonio: making the graph that represents the college for navigation, connecting the new graph and formatting it to work with the graph service that gets the paths and translates the json object into the real world, start working on the routing service which will connect the user to this service so that he can use it.

  • John: porting the project to angularjs and working on the translation service, start working on the multi language menus and create a suitable environment for the next iterations to start from.

Next Iteration Planning

The next iteration we will be completing the language service, process the destination information that we compiled in this iteration and add it to the GUI that we created, also we will be working on the finished GUI.
