Links
Links are used to help users navigate to other pages.
There are 5 types of links.
Use Regular links for the following types of links:
- Inline links (within text)
- Download links
- Subway navigation links
- 'Contributors' links
- 'Most requested' links
- 'More information for' links
- 'What we are doing' links
- 'Expand and collapse accordion' links
- 'On this page' table of contents links
Use Regular links emphasis for the following types of links:
- Inline links (within text)
- Institutional byline links
- 'All related...' links under lists of 'What we are doing' sections
- As needed for any options that fall under 'Regular link'
Use Title links for the following types of links:
- 'Services & information' title links
- 'Featured link' title links
- 'Context-specific features' title links
- 'Latest news' title links
Use Small links for the following types of links:
- Breadcrumbs
- Language toggle
Use Footer links for the following types of links
- Links in the footer
Colour
- Regular links, regular links emphasis, title links and small links should be blue 70b.
- Footer links located in the blue footer should be white.
- If the footer link is on white background use blue 70b.
We assessed all link types used across Canada.ca and augmented them by grouping them into 5 link types which can be found in the Extended GC Design Library - DECD. We altered some line heights and font styles to create better consistency.
