Pre-release

Alpha release of Retro-Go 1.37 for ESPlay Micro.

This is an early alpha release, but it is in good enough shape to be enjoyable. Please see known issues below, and feel free to contribute if able. Please note: I took the liberty of swapping A and B relative to how they are printed on the board, in order to conform with the familiar button layout from the likes of the NES and Gameboy. If there's demand, I can release a version with the buttons mapped as labeled.

Known Issues:

  • Battery Meter needs to be implemented. (Help Wanted!)
  • Menu, L, and R aren't mapped yet. Retro-Go's Menu button is currently mapped to the Select button until this is fixed.

Installation Instructions:

  1. Download retro-go_1.37_esplay-micro.fw below and place it in /espplay/firmware/ on your device.
  2. Turn on your unit while holding the Menu button (bottom right) down for a few seconds. The screen will remain off.
  3. Turn your unit off and back on again. This should get you access to the bootloader.
  4. Select retro-go_1.37_esplay-micro.fw from the menu and press the Start button to begin flashing Retro-Go.
  5. You will automatically boot into Retro-Go!

If you encounter problems (header mismatch when trying to flash, unable to launch games in retro-go, etc.) you may have a bad sd card. I sure did. :)
