Motorshield Custom Bottom Board

Why Custom Boards?

Our Motor Shield arrangement requires several components to be connected together such as the power from the Motor Shield itself to the solenoid beam-break for water as well as food beam-breaks. It is for this reason that all of our Motor Shields have a MAS-Pro stripboard soldered to the bottom of them so that this can be achieved.

To achieve the board size we want, we break the Stripboard using a vise, and take the segments to create 6 Motor Shields.

To break the Stripboard:

  1. Draw black "break" lines across the "D,H,L,P, and T" columns.
  1. Insert the Stripboard into a large vise as seen below:
  1. Put on Work Gloves, and then apply pressure to the bottom of the board, closest to the vise to snap it off. We want even pressure and a clean break.

  1. Repeat this process for the entire Stripboard, obtaining a total of 6 Custom Bottom Boards from a single Stripboard.
  1. This next step requires safety goggles for you and anyone near you. Parts will fly off rapidly once cut!

  2. Cut off the ends of the board as shown below, making sure to hold the board as you cut to ensure that the board itself doesn't fracture beyond the cut. Cut off the end with no letter labels , as this is usually easier.
