Subject matter apart from people, places, and organizations should be tagged directly in the TEI textual body itself. The subject matter includes, but is not limited to coins in the ANS Collection, archival resources, denominations or other intellectual concepts on Nomisma.org, Wikipedia articles about historical events, coin hoards, and coin types.
These items are linked by using the <ref>
element in TEI with a @target attribute that points to the URL on the web.
