Visible Surface Area of a Sphere

This script will show the trend of the visible area of a spherical body such as a planet or star as the altitude above its surface increases

The user can input:

  • Size of the sphere being observed
  • Maximum distance in a desired unit
  • Step size in a desired unit
  • Unit size e.g Au

The script was optimized for performance and should run relatively quickly with moderate demanding inputs. Only takes a few seconds (<10) with the included values on a 2018 Macbook Pro with 16GB ram and an i7 processor.

Please feel free to use this code in your projects, a citation has been included for ease, Also please feel free to make suggestions for modifications.
