This implementation was used in the PLOS ONE paper 10.1371/journal.pone.0227760.
Note that this version assumes that expression matrices are in the form samples x genes, which is different from the conventional form genes x samples. Future versions will be changed to be consistent with the common form in gene expression profiling studies, i.e. genes x samples.
