Basic Usage & Tips
To add music to TriPlayer's library, simply copy any supported audio files to /music
on the root of your SD card (create this folder if necessary). Upon the next application launch, it will scan your library and extract any metadata that is present in order to prepare the database.
You can freely add or remove songs from this folder and TriPlayer will update it's database when the application is next launched. It isn't a great idea to remove files while the sysmodule has a queue playing, so I recommend launching the application soon after any files have been deleted so the database can be updated to reflect this.
Note that you can edit the metadata stored in TriPlayer's database within the application. These changes are only saved within the database, and not the audio files (i.e. any ID3 tags aren't changed).
The application has been designed to be fairly easy to navigate and use. However, due to the hybrid nature of the Switch some actions may be a bit difficult to complete at first glance. I don't intend to spend a few paragraphs discussing how to use the application, so instead I'll leave it up to you to play around with it. Instead, here are a few tips to help you interact with it:
- Press
Y
to toggle between the main frame and the player - Press
X
when an item is highlighted to open it's context menu (indicated by three dots) - Press
+
to close the application from (almost) any screen - Press
-
to toggle between the list in a frame and any buttons at the top - Press
B
to navigate backwards one frame - Hold
ZL
orZR
to move between items faster
While outside of the application, you have two options to control playback. The first is to use the overlay (see the section below). The other option is to press a button combination. These can be configured within the app, but the defaults are:
-
L + DPADLEFT + RSTICK
: Skip backwards -
L + DPADUP + RSTICK
: Play/pause -
L + DPADRIGHT + RSTICK
: Skip forwards
Note that the TriPlayer overlay is launched via the Tesla Menu. The overlay is not required to use TriPlayer, however it allows for easier control of playback while in-game. The overlay should be pretty self-explanatory. Either touch or controller inputs can be used to interact with the elements. Note that there is a 'stop sysmodule' button which may come in handy to close TriPlayer before launching a troublesome application.
