I'm deeply involved in the Copier project.

I think it is a very important project because today bootstrapping a software project usually means having to duplicate a lot of configurations. Think of .travis.yml, .gitlab-ci.yml, .pre-commit-config.yaml or .editorconfig just to name a few.

Before I evolved Copier, there existed other tools that made project bootstrapping easy. All of them missed 2 key features:

  • Evolve your project when your template evolves.
  • Combine several templates in the some project.

Copier does that and more. And it is full of unit tests! You can see how important it is here:

I'd like to make it evolve to become the best project scaffolding tool in the planet. It probably is already, but there's plenty of room for improvement. I dedicate some of my free time to it. If you like it and you want to help it evolve, one of the best ways to do so is sponsoring me. 😀
