Sec very often fight in spaced zones, and I often seen how they were spaced on downstream servers were space wind is turned on.

This is more of a problem with lube and slippery puddles having no visual difference from non-slip puddles.

The first is being worked on, the second isn't.

Even so, magboots and sec hardsuits don't mix - but they do work exceptionally well outside of hardsuits.

Probably, because its allows to avoid slipping from roundstart, but when you fight against dragon you should choose, steal magboots from engineers or get spaced every time when you open airlock

I'd rather we add magboot tech to security lathes than letting them be obtainable roundstart

I don't think it's a very good change for upstream considering our rules. I can smell this becoming a very funny powergaming issue. If space wind was a thing on upstream, maybe?

Magboots as research doesn't sound too bad IMO, although I would ask around if maintainers think the idea is okay.

Would be a shame if sec had to interact with science and ask them for magboots.

I think it would be fine as long as they have a big slow down penalty such as 30%.
Even then sec suits have like a 25% slowdown that on top of mag boots kind of balances itself no?

At some point we need to introduce a slowdown cap because you're impossibly slow compared to threats with noslips
