was completely corrupted. <a href="https://forums.debian.net/viewtopic.php?t=155182">This forum post</a> provided the solution. I
had to press <code>tab</code> and add <code>vga=normal fb=false</code> to the boot string. After that the installer was displayed normally.</p>
