This is a starter page from Jean that I we can customize for SF-in-progress use. See Jeans original at https://github.com/sfbrigade/sf-openreferral/wiki/About-the-Project/_edit

Ready to contribute? Here’s how to get started.

##1) Check Github Readme for Outstanding Tasks
This applies to non-coding contributors as well. Because of the nature of the project we need a certain level of experience from potential team members, which means we will need to take a quick look at your past work. For developers, this would be your github/bitbucket. For non-developers, this could be a portfolio, writing samples, research project, etc.

##2) Start Hacking
Coders: use github to make a pull request, ping, or do code review practice. In the span of 3 meetings you should have opened at least one pull request. Non-coders: check in with project management to get access to other assets and more information on outstanding tasks.

##3) Get Added
We use Trello, Slack, and Google Drive to manage communications, tasks, and store non-code work in progress. You will need to have access to these files in addition to what’s in github, talk to project management or a senior team member to get added. After you have attended three meetings we will start assigning you trello cards. You will also need to add yourself to our contributor page in the wiki. Add your name, contact info, and role to be credited.

##4) Show Up
We expect context-appropriate regular attendance from our contributors. If you have missed two hack nights in a row and we have not heard from you, we will consider you off the project. We will send a confirmation email to make sure. Depending on the nature of your contribution, you may not need to attend every hack night, as long as you let us know.

##5) Ask questions
The team is your best resource! San Francisco housing policy is incredibly complex, and there is always something to learn about the landscape.
