This page describes how we recommend setting up the Oculus and PS3 Eye camera at your desk for optimal tracking. All the setup steps on this page assume that you have the recommended parts referred to in Hardware-Purchase-List.
If you want a reasonable range of tracking at your dev station, we've found that you want your PS Eye and Oculus tracking cameras mounted high above your desk, pointing downward.
- Detach the mounting bracket from the top of the tripod
- Screw in Oculus tracking camera
- Clip mounting bracket (with Oculus camera attached) to the tripod
- Put the PS Eye camera in the PS Eye Mounting Clip and fold the leg down 45 degrees
- Using gaffer's tape, attach the PS Eye on top of the Oculus camera
- Place tripod behind monitors
- NOTE: If the tripod base is too big to fit behind the monitor, you can make its footprint smaller by loosening up the ring on the center column, pulling the legs inward, and then tightening the ring.
- Connect the USB extension cable to the PS Eye camera and connect it to the USB hub or PC. The tracking camera with the DK2 had a pretty long USB cable that tended to work in most setups.
- Tape down the feet of the tripod with gaffer's tape
- Hook up the PS Move controller charging station and start charging the move controller. Ideally the charging station is in view of the camera, but it's not a requirement.
