  • Coordination: @Shweata Hegde and @Anuv have very kindly agreed to act as "Buddies" for @Vaishnavi Jha and @Ananya The first part will be induction of interns (see below) later we can discuss: progress since last meeting pygetpapers imageanalysis docanalysis dictionaries outreach Project structure and management: "Standup" report every working day : what I did since last standup what I plan to do before next standup what's blocking me (including foreseeable absence)
  • Principles: cooperation not competition work in public. All output to Github when it is done Github issues share communal goal - to create novel high-class science help the next intake get up to speed quickly: clear project structure and navigation tutorials and demonstrations Metrics and data. When we report to the world this must be reproducible: validate all tools record all data create tests and demonstrations
  • Overall goal: to extract and validate terpene discourse from scientific publications to extract terpene synthase pathways from diagrams in the literature to create and validate tools and publicise them to provide metrics for performance Initial project (initial timescale 2 weeks) manually classify Alex Pico diagram subset categories: terpene pathway non-terpene pathway non-pathway uncertain open source tools (NOT Excel). Format CSV, NOT XLSX
  • create communal Pandas for project. Note PMR has not used Pandas extensively so we will reply on communal guidance install your choice of CSV editor define columns (categories + metadata) agree rules for classification - very important. must be as clear and objective as possible
