- Build a laser cutter with at least an 80W laser.
- ... that can easily be configured as a nylon powder based 3D printer.
- Try to build a BLDC based servo controller for even better performance and super-low price.
- Try to build a an alternative powder printer based on Piezo inkjet deposited UV glue.
Please add to the list of UserStories.
- Write all documentation in English, we'd like non-Danes to be able to participate or at least read the documentation.
- Use only Open Source components or build Open Source components from the ground up, we want all of the finished product to be Open Source.
- Use Open Source tools if at all possible, so as many people are able to participate in the development as possible.
- Discuss, preferably in English, on Hack Aarhus' forum
- Use only lower case file and directory names without any funny characters (like space, /, : and _)
##Work Packages
- Software: Provide some user interface for identifying 3D object files (So far just STL), converting these to G-Code and transfering the result to the embedded devices.
- Embedded: Accept G-Code describing a desired path and use Motor controlers for moving the sled accordingly.
- Mechanics: Build the physical setup. Includes building the sled and laser mount.
- Optics: Select, acuire, install and tune the laser and mirrors onto the physical setup.
- Safety: Coordinate and help to implement safety features on all relevant levels (one or more of software, embedded and hardware).
- PR: Responsible for aquireing the resources needed for the project.
- Management: Responsible for the coordination of responsibilities, interfaces and overall timing between the groups above.
- HighLevel control software providing a simple HTML5 based user interface running on an embedded PC.
- Geometry3D 3D geometry operations (3D printing with laser sintering and possibly piezo deposited UV glue later).
- Geometry2D 2D geometry operations (engraving + cutting).
- LowLevel realtime systems consisting of electronics and firmware
- Mechanical system, all physical, non-electronic construction
- Optical system, LASER, power supply, mirrors, power supply, water cooling
The 3D printer project will be expensive, so it is essential that we find one or more sponsors that will help fund the project, the PublicRelations and Sponsors group takes care of that part.
If not enough sponsors can be found then the project participants will invest in the project.
