Version 1.3.0

04 Apr 09:14
Compare
Choose a tag to compare

Released 31st March 2014.

Please note that this version requires AlphaSphere firmware version 1.02 to communicate with the AlphaSphere correctly.

New features:

  • AlphaSphere LED Configuration and Control – The RGB LED inside the AlphaSphere can now be completely customised – change the colour/brightness, make it flash in sync to AlphaLive’s clock or an external MIDI Clock, as well create completely custom colour changes and animations using external MIDI CC messages. Some LED settings can be controlled with pads (via Controller Mode) or elite buttons.
  • MIDI Dynamic Channel Mode – This is a useful new feature that allows MIDI channels to be dynamically applied to pads when they are pressed, giving each pad a unique MIDI channel. This can be used to create polyphonic pitch bend, as well being an alternative to polyphonic aftertouch when it is not available, allowing notes to be modulated individually.
  • MIDI Clock – You can now send MIDI Clock messages to sync external MIDI software/hardware with AlphaLive’s clock, or you can receive MIDI clock messages to sync AlphaLive to an external MIDI source.
  • Pressure Latch Mode – This mode allows you to ‘latch’ the pressure value of a pad. This feature will be most useful when wanting to control a MIDI slider/dial in a more conventional way, without the control going back to zero when you release the pad.
  • Added a ‘View’ menu that includes some shortcuts for viewing different displays and interface elements within AlphaLive.
  • You can now change the text of the pads on the Pad Layout section to display pad contents rather than just pad numbers. Change this via the Preferences pane. Please note that this feature is still in beta mode.
  • A new option that sets only the most recently pressed MIDI pad to have control of any type of MIDI channel pressure data (channel aftertouch, pitch bend, mod wheel or CC data) of a particular channel at any time. This option will prevent the glitchy/jumpy effect caused by pressing multiple pads set to the same MIDI message. Access this option via the Preferences pane.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed an issue with device connectivity on Windows 8 and 8.1.
  • Fixed a bug where there would occasionally be clicks at the beginning of audio file playback.
  • Fixed an issue where certain rotary sliders wouldn’t disappear.
  • Fixed a bug where not all controls/settings would be reset when creating a new project.
  • Fixed an issue where trying to export a scene that isn’t the currently selected one would result in the exported scene data being overwritten with the selected scene data.
  • Fixed a bug where changing the ‘MIDI note display type’ control in Preferences wouldn’t change the formatting of the piano label.

Other:

  • Slightly increased the font size of most text, especially that of Chinese and Japanese characters.
  • Improved the arrangement and look of the Preferences and Project Settings displays.
  • Improved the look of the rotary sliders.
  • Highlighted the first pad or each row on the Pad Layout section.
  • Added some useful resources and links to the ‘Help’ menu.
  • Added new interface themes.

Released 15th October 2013

New features:

  • Interface Themes – You can now change the skin and colour scheme of the software interface. Go to ‘Preferences -> General Settings -> Interface Theme’ to do this.
  • Scene presets – The Toolbox now contains a ‘Scene Presets’ tab that allows you to apply template mappings or setting to the entire set of pads. Select all pads to display these presets in the Toolbox.
  • Scene names – You can now name each Scene using the provided text box shown when hovering the mouse over each Scene slot.
  • Copy Notes/Samples to Sequencer option – You can now easily apply a set of MIDI pad notes or Sampler pad samples to a Sequencer pad when wanting to recording them. To do this, select all the MIDI/Sampler pads you want to record as well as the Sequencer pad/s you want to record into, and select the ‘Copy Notes/Samples to Sequencer’ item from the ‘Edit’ menu.
  • You can now set any pad to be the AlphaLive Killswitch using Controller Mode.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a bug that would occasionally cause the application to crash on close.
  • All audio file browsers will now always remember the last used directory.
  • Read-only projects can no longer be saved.
  • Fixed a bug where clearing a scene would cause project settings to be reset to their default values.
  • Fixed a bug within the project-cleaning feature that would occasionally cause missing audio file errors.

Other:

  • Improved the look of certain interface elements.
  • Improved the startup process of the application.
  • You will now be alerted when AlphaLive is in an unstable state due to opening a project that was created or last modified by a newer version of AlphaLive.

New features:

  • You can now switch between the different pad settings views (trigger/touch settings, pressure settings, sequence settings) by just clicking on the currently selected pad.

Bug fixes:

  • Fixed a bug within the Cycle Pad Behaviour where emulating pad presses via the AlphaLive interface would cause the sequence number to jump by two instead of one.
  • Fixed a bug where if you pressed a pad within an exclusive group that isn’t quantised, it would not kill any pads within the same exclusive group that were currently waiting to play or stop.
  • Fixed a bug on OS X where launching AlphaLive by opening an AlphaLive Project file whilst AlphaLive is set to open the previously opened project on launch would cause the previous project to be opened first.
  • Fixed a bug on Windows where the MIDI output selector would appear when it shouldn’t.
  • Set the application to automatically run as administrator on Windows so that certain functionality will work correctly.
  • Minor bugs and general performance issues fixed.
