the "-u" stands for "upgrade all packages", so I removed it

As far as I'm concerned it can be dangerous to install only selected packages without full system upgrade. Archlinux may become unbootable, I reached that state once and had to repair this in a chroot from ubuntu with a full system upgrade. |
