Greetings Loyal Citizens!

This new release page will come with the latest version of 'JParanoia Community Edition', and will contain the patch notes for said version. However do not worry, if this page gets updated then the older version is archived. (Under a version number).

This latest edition is 1.31.5! Here is the brief changelog for what was updated.

  • Fully intergrated UTF-8 support! Special thanks to citizen Storm-O-bot (Stormbot) for help!
  • Planned images are now fixed! GMs rejoice, you can actually properly plan your missions!
  • Reformatted, and fixed some of the pregen characters.

SOUND IS NOW FUNCTIONAL!! MAKE SURE TO UNMUTE PROGRAM.
Replaced default PreGens, with 'classic' RED CLEARANCE PreGens From PARANOIA XP's 'Crash Priority' supplement.

Salutations fellow Troubleshooters, and rejoice that another update as been applied!

In this update we have done the following:

-- Added text to further explain how to use the combat system, this allows for old and new players to use the system with less confusion.

-- We have also patched https linked images further, fixing the issue that some links yielded a 403 error.

This update is not Compatible with the previous community version, so make sure all players use the up to date version. Posted below is the full update.

Remember to trust no one, keep your laser handy, and happiness is mandatory!

Greetings Troubleshooters! You have a new message from Friend Computer!

Rejoice as the source code can now be compiled if you so wish, and this version is compiled right from the source itself! This version has a couple of fixes, with more on the way!

Wait, what's the difference between 'Hexed' and 'Community'?

Hexed version is a hotfix that allows for people to play multiplayer without the need of modifying system files. This was a limited fix and will not be updated any further. The 'Community' edition is what is compiled from the GitHub directly, and has more advanced fixes.

As always, Special Thanks to High Programmer 'Foma-U-JVA for assisting with various errors!

Changelog for community edition:

Added a disclaimer for this program, expressing that this is a fan made project to patch JParanoia.
Allowed for people to connect to hosted servers, without the need of modifying system files.
Actually updated the version number in the program.
Added the word 'Community' to various windows and in the console.
The ability to send https links for unplanned images now work!
Character sheets now update upon joining the server and logging in.
Ensured that only community builds of the game can play community builds.
Updated the splash screen to the link to this GitHub.

Future plans:
Fix all issues and take suggestions from people.

Special Note on COMBAT: The only other thing to note is that combat is not broken, the GM has to select the player he/she wishes to do the first action, then the the client can submit their action. Once finished make sure to press 'unfreeze' to allow for the game to proceed.

Greetings Troubleshooters! You have a new message from Friend Computer!

"Today we have managed to patch the connection issue. Players can now connect without the need of modifying any system files. Please mute the program when running as the sound effect loops when combat is started."

Changelog:

  • Patched multiplayer to allow for people to connect without any changes to system files.
  • Changed File name to reflect new version.
  • Modified image data text file to have working planned images.
  • Commented out planned pictures that I couldn't replace for the time being...

Future Patch: Fix combat music, and other broken sound effects.

THINGS FOR HOST TO NOTE:
PORTS: Make sure you port forward before hosting, and send out your IP to people you trust.

PICTURES: When sending pictures to players, make sure the full URL ends with .jpg (as that is the only file type that works) and, if needed, drop the 's' in https. Once all of that is accounted for then the pictures should be able to work.

MUST BE CONVERTED TO:

http://pbs.twimg.com/profile_images/115391637/FC_400x400.jpg

Having an 's' at then end of http causes errors for some reason.

The original release of the latest version for JParanoia before the site went down. Unsure how much still works, but I do know that images may not be working. (Feel free to help recover images and edit the source code to fix said issues. Internet Archive has the site captured a few times.) Must have Java SE 8 to run, unsure if later java versions still work with the program.
