I have made all of the German Pointer breeds (longhaired, roughhaired, shorthaired and wirehaired) children of 'dog breed' for now. There seems to be a lack of clarity that they are all part of the grouping class 'German Pointer.'
The source you provided states, "each of the three (GLP, GWH and GSH) breeds have different histories and bloodlines." I think these relations will best be captured with the new has_foundation_stock relation.
I also note that only OMIA and Venom are the sources for the 'German Pointer' concept so perhaps this is not a breed name used by breed organizations?
Dear Katie,
just noticed that German Shorthaired Pointer http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/VBO_0200583 is listed a child of 'German Shepherd Dog VBO:0200577 - which is incorrect.
Also German Wirehaired Pointer (Dog) http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/VBO_0200602 is listed as a child of German Spitz http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/VBO_0200585 which is also incorrect?
And German Longhaired pointer http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/VBO_0200570 is a child of 'dog breed'
I assume they should all be children of German Pointer? http://purl.obolibrary.org/obo/VBO_0200574
Do we need a resource/reference - found this one but may not be the best choice: https://www.horseandhound.co.uk/dogs/german-pointer-dog-breeds-852796
Best regards,
