Using Barapost on Windows

Standart Windows cmd console isn't attractive. Therefore, we recommend to use ConEmu terminal emulator instead. It can be downloaded here: https://conemu.github.io/.

Handy tip. It is not that obvious how to chage working disk in Windows console. cd E: does not work. Let me remind you, if you don't rememder. To change working directory to E:, type just:

BLAST+ traps

BLAST+ toolkit has some troubles with Windows. Here I list these problems and ways to avoid them.

  1. Windows build of BLAST+ version 2.10.0 often fails to create database. Solution is to use BLAST+ version 2.9.0 instead.

  2. On Windows, BLAST+ handles non-ASCII characters in paths badly. Please, make sure that there are no non-ASCII characters in paths to files which are passed to "barapost-local.py".
