Run Project

This application runs with Docker Compose.

Note: The MSSQL Server Docker Image is not compatible with a MAC with Apple Silicon.

  1. Clone the repository
  2. Download Docker Desktop. Available here.
  3. Run Docker Desktop
  • Make sure ports: 3000, 4000, and 1433 is available!
  1. Open a terminal (e.g., Powershell)
  2. Write docker to verify it's installed. Proceed if it's installed.
  3. Copy this command into you terminal
docker volume create assethubcontext-vol
  1. Run this command in you terminal to verify that the volume is created. The volume name assethubcontext-vol should be listed
docker volume ls
  1. From the root folder of the repository cd into /src and run this command in the termial. (This folder should contain a docker-compose.yml file)
docker compose up -d
  1. Run this command in the termial to verify that all three containers are running. Can be identified with the names:
  • SqlServer
  • bouvetassethubui
  • bouvetassethubapi
docker ps
  1. Now the application is up and running! But before proceeding to access the frontend at localhost:3000, you must check that the backend server uses allowed certificates. To allow using self signed certificates, you must follow these steps:
  • First open https://localhost:4000/swagger.
  • If this site is unavailable due to a certificate error message. You must allow a self signed certficate to access localhost.
  • This process is different depending on browser, I recommend using Chrome in this case, if you don't have any previous experience with this.
  • In Chrome you will get an error message, where you can choose the Advanced option. This image displays this option.
  • Proceed with clicking Proceed to localhost.
  • Now you have allowed localhost to use self signed certificate and you get redirected to the Swagger page. Now you can proceed to the next step.
  1. Now go to localhost:3000, where you can access the UI. (Might take some time the first time it runs.)
  • If everything is working correctly, there should be data in the Assets table, and in the Categories table.
  1. Run this command in the terminal from /src, to stop and remove containers and networks created by docker compose up.
docker compose down
