Roots for Resilience Weekly Journal

This repository contains the journal, a weekly log where students write their thoughts on content in Foundational Open Science Skills (FOSS). The idea is that you think about the content presenting to you during FOSS and reflect on how it could be used for your own research or project.

After each FOSS session, students will write their thoughts on the session (using Rose, Bud, Thorn) using the markdown template (e.g., journal_12sept2023.md). We will use this information to drive some discussion on Tuesday sessions.

Instructions

  1. Fork this repository. This will create an exact copy of the repo for your account. Make sure to fork the branches and not just the main branch.

  2. Within the your forked repo, edit the branch with your name. For the first journal entry, you will edit the markdown file journal_12sept2023.md with your thoughts on the FOSS session. For subsequent journals, you will create new markdown files with the same naming convention. File editing can be done directly on Github. Alternatively, you can clone the repo to you local machine to do the editing.

  3. Upon finishing the journal writing, you will click on the contribute button. This will start a pull request to merge the changes in your forked repo back to the original repo (jeffgillan/R4R). Make sure the changes you want to merge are on your named branch.

  4. I will review the proposed changes of the pull request and then accept them.
