README for gst-test ------------------- Prototype to get a server and client running for Ninja Octopus (http://launchpad.net/pandamon). Running ------- First, the server needs to be started using twistd: twistd -ny server.tac Then the client can be started: python test-client.py Once everything is running, you should be able to pull the stream by browsing to http://localhost:8801/a.ogg. The path is defined by the first command the client sends. Currently it just sends "stream stream_name". This is just a simple protocol defined for the prototype. In the future, we need to address what protocol should be used or created. Currently, I'm leaning towards using HTTP as the default protocol. Further on, the server should be able to interpret multiple prtocols such as RTMP to add support for Flash. Testing with a Webcam and Mic ----------------------------- To test with a webcam and mic is quite simple. In test-client.py just change the pipeline template. Instead of audiotestsrc, use alsasrc (osssrc, and pulsesrc are possible inputs as well), and instead of videotestsrc use v4l2src. As long as you can pull up your camera with luvcview or Cheese it should work with this! Pipeline examples ----------------- Read ogg file, and simulate the server's pipeline to make an FLV: gst-launch filesrc location=test.ogg ! queue ! decodebin name=decoder ! videorate ! ffmpegcolorspace ! videoscale ! video/x-raw-yuv,width=320,height=240 ! tee name=video ! queue ! autovideosink decoder. ! audioconvert ! tee name=audio ! queue ! autoaudiosink video. ! queue ! ffenc_flv ! flvmux name=mux ! filesink location=output.flv audio. ! queue ! lamemp3enc ! mux.
