This is meant to (hopefully) be an exhaustive list so you know how much building this project will cost from scratch. Of-course things may be missing, but this should give you a relatively good estimate of how much the project will cost you. This is assuming you are building just a wooden button box, no metal or laser cutting included.
- Raspberry Pi 3b (a Pico WH should be fine) - £28 from Amazon
- GeekPi LCD Display - £13 from Amazon
- 4 x Protected Switch - £5.52 total from AliExpress
- 2 x 5pcs Momentary Push Buttons - £14 total from Amazon
- 5pcs Metal Switches - £8.58 from Amazon
Really we just need 4 M4 nuts and bolts for holding the screen in place, this kit is a bit overkill
- Nuts and Bolts Set - £4.79 from Amazon
- Breadboard Wires - £5.99 from Amazon
- 33.8x24.8.10cm Wooden Box - £19.99 from Amazon
- Screwdriver
- Drill with 4mm, 14mm and 16mm drill bits
- Small cutting saw
This project excluding tools will set you back around £100
- Settling for a Raspberry Pi Pico (with WIFI and Headers) will save you around £21
- Assuming you already have 4 M4 nuts and bolts lying around, you will save £4.79
- Assuming you already have breadboard wires, you will save £5.99
New Total: £68.22
You can also use AliExpress to get all of the buttons and switches (not just the protected ones)
- Make sure the switches have a 14mm cutting diameter
- Make sure the buttons are 16mm
