HED specification v3.1.1
This is a patch release of the HED specification. It has the same content as v3.1.0, but corrections were made to configuration so that the documentation would appear correctly on readthedocs. Also the JSON tests files were moved out of the web source and into a tests subdirectory.
HED specification v3.1.0
This release consists of a significant rewrite of the specification to clarify the existing concepts. No additional features are specified in this release.
- The overall layout of the specification has been improved.
- The ERROR names in Appendix B have been made web-addressable, so that error messages in the validators can automatically generate links to the errors.
- The error descriptions have been greatly enhanced and linked to appropriate places in the specification document.
- A set of common unit tests has been specified in JSON. Both Python and JavaScript validators will use these tests in addition to their current tests.
HED Specification v3.0.0
In October 2022, the HED schema versioning and
HED specification versioning were officially separated.
The specification versions start with 3.0.0, indicating HED-3G.

HED v8.1.0
This release had several bug and consistency fixes. A conversionFactor schema attribute was added to the unit classes and modifiers to facilitate tools converting among units.
Some tags and unit classes were added, but datasets tagged with 8.0.0 should be able to use 8.1.0.
HED-3G initial release
This is the initial release of HED-3G schema vocabulary and documentation.
The source is the release in its original format.
An updated release was made to correct a syntax error in the valueClass specification for textClass. The updated release is in the hed-specification-8.0.0 zip files.
An additional minor correction to the initial release was made on Aug 16, 2021: a # placeholder child was added to Item-count. This was inadvertently omitted in the first release.
HED-2G v7.0.5 last release before HED restructuring
HED will be undergoing significant restructuring to improve usability, consistency, and maintainability. We are switching from editing the Wiki to making changes in the file HED-schema.mediawiki.
This is a version of HED-2G (second generation HED). All versions with HED versions satisfying 4 <version < 8 are HED-2G.
HED versions starting with version 8.0.0-alpha.1 correspond to HED-3G (third generation HED).
