This release fixes issues that were causing distortions in LaTeX figures. When importing an svg file as a curve into blender, there are often several different connected components, which may overlap. For example, what appears as a straight line in the svg might be represented by two smaller overlapping curves. If one applies the join operation to these different pieces, it can create holes or other strange behavior. However, if one first converts to a mesh and then does the join, the behavior is better. For this reason, the compile as curve option as been removed. Now there are two compile options: as mesh, or as grease pencil. If you still want to use curves, you can always convert your mesh or grease pencil back to a curve in blender.
