Motivation
There are already a plethora of full-featured raster graphics editors in the market. So, why are we adding one more drop to the ocean? We (Kuntal (@hellozee) and Dedipyaman (@2DSharp)) were faithful Photoshop users. When we switched to Linux, we tried running PS using wine and failed to have it in a working state, switched to GIMP, only to find that we have to rewrite years of experience with brand new stuff. We tried to configure GIMP as similar to Photoshop as we could but that was unable to change the workflow that GIMP expected. Though eventually we were able to make the switch, oftentimes, we come across a common question to some people who would like to give Linux a try- "Does Photoshop work with Linux?".
We believe that developer time is important, and getting used to a completely new workflow for a set of tools that do the same thing as the ones you are used to- takes time. This project aims to solve that problem, it probably would be impossible for us to go against thousands of man hours put towards massive projects like Photoshop or Gimp, this is a committed attempt towards building a software similar to the industry standard for raster graphics editor so the switch to a new platform is easy and smooth. This also brings in the opportunity of making this open source raster graphics editor available on all multiple platforms to the table.
