Added tests, easier installation process, good code style with checks, and docstrings

This is a pre-alpha, active development release because no tests are written, docstrings need updating, and code needs to be generalized. However, the nuts and bolts of the code are in a good enough state that I am publishing a paper using results from it. This release is in support of the showyourwork! workflow for that paper.
