When building for the first time I stumbled upon a few issues and lost some time. Improving the instructions migh help others who are starting.

When building for the first time I stumbled upon a few issues and lost some time.
Improving the instructions might help others who are starting. I think it would be great to recommend a specific Linux distribution and version for running the builds.
Maybe my findings are wrong and there are better ways of making the build work?
I am also not sure if the following comment is correct
The build worked without gRPRC or protobuf installation on Ubuntu 20.04
