This will backport the following commits from main to 8.x:

Gets rid of unused files and some types, constants, etc. that are no
longer referenced in production code.

We don't strictly need to backport these code deletion PRs. They have no user-facing issues, and while the CI did fail it seems unrelated to the change itself. I'll close this and adjust the backport target.
