Current stable version is v3: see rdedup v3.0.0 release notes. Fixes and backports to v2 are being tracked in the 2.0.0 branch.
Implementation is quite solid, test harnesses are making sure things don't break. There are some companies etc. using it in production and it works for them. No bugs are being reported, so it looks it's bug-free enough.
No major development work is being done or planed currently, because main author covered all personal needs, and is busy raising a family and other side-projects.
There are some tools by 3rd party authors, using rdedup-lib internally.
Remote storage support was never finished, thought the core code is there.
