Exciting times! Just a week into development and I'm thrilled to roll out the alpha release of retroNode! It's a nifty tool born from the need to digitally map out game scenes for a book-related game project. With retroNode, creating immersive narratives through visual scripting just got easier and way more fun.

What's New

  • Visual Scripting Made Simple: Drag and drop scenes and rooms with ease. Our intuitive interface cuts down the hassle, so you focus on creativity.
  • Customizable Scenes: Each node now supports images, visibility toggles, and fixed directional paths (North, South, East, West). Customization options are on the horizon!
  • Draw on the Canvas: Jump into canvas drawing for straightforward scene connections. No complex JS required—just your creativity and a pen.
  • Quick Access Control Panel: A new floating control panel for all your essential tools: add scenarios, export data, toggle modes, and more.
  • Export Your Work: Easily export scenario data and code snippets, ready to integrate into your game logic.

Improvements

  • Enhanced performance for smoother interactions.
  • A fresher, more intuitive UI/UX.
  • Tailwind CSS via CDN for easy styling (custom setup guidance included).

Fixes

  • Solved unresponsive interface when moving nodes quickly.
  • Fixed mismatched exported data and scenario structures.
  • Addressed minor UI issues on the scenario canvas.

Heads Up

  • Exported code might need tweaking for certain engines (right now, retroNode supports json and js.
  • The control panel works best on larger screens.

Shoutouts

Big thanks to everyone who's lent a hand or shared feedback. Mari, Roy, Josu, Franco, and everyone else who chimed in. Your input has been a game-changer you guys. Cheers!

Looking Forward

The journey's just begun. What's next? better node interaction, night mode, more export options, and engine compatibility (probably C#). Excited to see where it goes from here!

Thanks for checking out retroNode. Can't wait to see the stories you'll tell!
