  1. Download kinect2-nidaq version 0.2.3. Unzip the contents onto your desktop.

  1. Download and install the Kinect for Windows Runtime 2.0
  2. Download and install the Kinect for Windows SDK 2.0
  3. Even if you will not be using a National Instruments device, install version 17.6 of NI-DAQmx. Click on Download the Latest Version of NI-DAQmx, then download the latest version for Windows. Note that you will need to make a National Instruments account for the download. During the installation, make sure to include support for the .NET Framework 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5.1 Languages Support.

The following images make the last step a little more clear, first select the directory for installing and proceed,

Be sure to choose a custom install,

Then choose to install the .NET support libraries to the local hard drive,

Finish the install. Now try opening the kinect2_nidaq.exe / kinect2_nidaq file (depending on your version of Windows, the .exe extension may or may not be visible) in the folder you just unzipped onto your desktop. After a few seconds, you should see the following window,

Once everything is set up be sure to collect a 30-45 minute test dataset. Check the depth_ts.txt file to be sure that the dropped frame rate is less than 1%. If you look at the difference between neighboring timestamps, it should be ~30 (as in 30 milliseconds).
