I presume the travis problem is temporary but if not it might be worth trying cross-compiling on azure.

It's not a temp problem, but the Travis logs truncate the solving conflicts report, so worth switching to CC just for better logs. Likely has ppc64le missing in some of the dependencies.

It looks like r-sf is the issue. Not a package I know but I'll check on it.

@xylar just fyi, I'm switching this back to native compilation due to complications with the configure script I'd rather not solve. I'll take care of any restarts if they come up.

Given that Travis CI is stuck for ppc64le, I'm switching this to full Azure-based emulation. (sorry, still don't want to rework the R configure file, 🙈 )
