Project goals

Design a prototype expungement application using Jotform that can perform the following functions:
- Record a user's biographical information, criminal history, and financial condition
- Determine whether a user is eligible for expungement based on their criminal record
- Produce filled-out forms ready for the user to submit to the courts
Test the prototype with KLS attorneys, individuals seeking expungements, and individuals who have already been through the expungement process
Based on feedback received during testing, design a full standalone application that can both guide pro se applicants through the expungement process, and allow KLS staff and associated pro bono attorneys to more easily fill out client forms and keep track of the disposition of applicants
Based on the lessons learned over the course of the development process, recommend a set of actions that the courts could take to make it easier for individuals to apply for expungement
