File Directory
This is the file directory for Ram's Horn. Most of these folders are fairly self-explanatory, but some require more explanation. Understanding this directory will help one understand the pipeline we use for BYU Animation.
The folders actually used for the film are below:
- Animation: Folder containing temporary animation, none of which is for the film.
- Concept_Art: Folder containing the concept art developed for Ram's Horn, both approved and unapproved. For Concept and Production Design teams only.
- dailies: Folder containing the files/images/movies shown at dailies every MWF. More on this below.
- edit_for_jarom: The folder containing the animatic for both storyboard and previs. Also where those working on shots will add their movie files so that Jarom can add them to the next iteration of the edit.
- HDR: folder containing numerous HDR images that people have added. Great resource to add to and utilize.
- IMAGES_FOR_BRENT: Folder containing images that Brent will use to promote the film ― reference, promotional stills, trailer images, etc. Not sure who is overseeing the management of this folder.
- models_for_everyone: Folder containing the temporary geometry for the characters and assets when Ram's Horn was first started. Since we have transitioned to working solely in the pipeline, this folder is now obsolete.
- production: Folder containing all of the working assets for Ram's Horn. Much, much more will be said about this below.
- ramshorn-tools: Folder containing the pipeline code that makes all of this work. Much more will be said below.
- reference: Folder containing various kinds of reference for the film. Many teams on the film have their own reference blogs, as well.
- tmp: Folder with temporary files of various kinds.
- users: Folder containing directory of all users that have access to Ram's Horn production tools. Used in pipeline as a intermediate storage place for files that are checked out by users.
There are also a few other folders and files that are in the ramshorn groups folder. Do not create a folder or place a file in the parent directory without permission from a production assistant or lead on the film.
