Parsing out URLs is a very old problem and there are quite a few solid solutions to it.

@dandv You'll notice the first commit to this project predates jQuery linkify by nearly two years.
I've been using this in production for several years and it's more than suited my needs. If you think the documentation or implementation can be improved, please submit a pull request. If you think there are better libraries in existence, perhaps you can write a comparative blog post.
I'd be happy to merge a pull request that updates the README to include links to more full-featured or modern alternatives, but this seems to be suiting some people's needs just fine. :)
