Releases: balance-io/balance-open
1.0 Public Beta 2
Improvements
- Now clearing out old log files when total log file size reaches 3 MB
- Renamed the app to Balance.app instead of BalanceOpen.app. If you already have the app installed, auto-update will not change the name unless you manually rename it, but new users will get the new name.
Bug Fixes
- Fixed Bittrex support
- Fixed detection of Poloniex invalid API keys when syncing
- Fixed some currency conflicts causing incorrect prices for some tokens (specifically Saint Helena Pound was conflicting with Sharpe Capital's SHP token)
First 1.0 Public Beta!
This is the first public beta release for 1.0! That means we feel that Balance for macOS is ready for release and just need community feedback to see if there are any show-stopper issues we may have missed.
Improvements
- Balance now supports Bittrex accounts! We've done some internal testing, but would love to hear if you have any issues viewing your connecting, viewing your balances, and viewing your transactions.
- The user interface is now final for 1.0!
Bug Fixes
- Fixed syncing issues with Gdax and Kraken
- Fixed some tokens (like VOTES) display an incorrect amount
- Fixed all tabs show an ugly empty scroll bar when a mouse is plugged in
Finalizing the release
This release should be either the last or one of the last betas before the 1.0 public beta! We've done a bunch of work on the backend to get things working better, faster, and more reliably. We've fixed all of the bugs we're aware of regarding syncing and other core functionality, and the design is almost complete!
We're putting the final touches on Bittrex support to try and get that out for 1.0, and have a bit of user interface polish left to do, but otherwise we're there. iOS is also coming along quickly and should be ready to submit within a week.
Improvements
- Renamed Wallet to Ethereum Address to avoid confusion when adding your account
- Truncated crypto decimals when possible to prevent seeing things like 0.00000000
- Added a better exchange rate source for fiat currencies, so now all world currencies are supported
- Almost finished skinning the add account screen including adding a help button that links to instructions on how to create the needed API keys
- Balance now detects when an API key has been revoked and shows a reconnect button
- Various improvements to app internals and the backend
Bug Fixes
- Fixed some coins with more than 8 decimals are wrongly represented
- Fixed removing last account takes you to add account screen instead of price tracker
- Fixed issues adding accounts when copy pasting your API key
- Fixed window height goes crazy when adding an account
- Fixed prices stopped updating due to an SSL problem
Happy Holidays!
Improvements
- Improved handling of Coinbase syncing. Now if the refresh token expires or otherwise doesn't work, you'll see a reconnect button in the Accounts tab. Just click that to sign back in to Coinbase and you'll see your balances update again.
- Improved Price Tracker layout, you can now see your portfolio at the top, with the other popular currencies below it, then all the rest that we track
- Moved to better servers in Europe so prices should update more reliably, and all data is now in Europe in accordance with EU data regulations for EU citizens
- Improved price display for Ethereum wallets (now using the price ticker average price)
Bug Fixes
- Fixed adding Poloniex accounts is very slow and freezes the user interface (also improved speed of adding any exchange)
- Fixed popover shortcut doesn't save after setting it
- Fixed MIOTA does not show a price
- Fixed add account view shows wrong names for API keys which can be confusing, it now uses the same name that the exchange uses when you create it. Also we'll be reworking that interface to vastly improve it for the next beta.
Getting close!
Improvements
- Added many more currencies to the price tracker
- Improved reliability of the prices in the price tracker and in Ethereum wallets
- Added instant open, the app no longer animates when you open it so you can see your balances faster
Bug Fixes
- Fixed feedback emails not working, we apologize if you used the Send Feedback menu option and didn't get a reply! It should work correctly now.
- Fixed price for MIOTA token was missing
- Fixed price ticker showed $0.00 for tokens for prices under 1 cent. It now shows 8 decimal places in that case
- Fixed Ethereum wallets did not remove tokens from total balance after they were spent
- Fixed some Coinbase syncing issues. Note you may need to remove and re-add your Coinbase account if it's still not updating for you (this will be improved before release)
Known Issues
- The add account flow still needs to be skinned and improved
- If accounts fail to sync or connect after they've already been added, the app doesn't yet prompt you to fix it though
Almost ready for 1.0!
- Added a basic price tracker (will be much improved after the 1.0 release)
- Added converted prices for most new altcoins and tokens
- Added a lot more skinning, almost the final design for 1.0
- Fixed various issues related to syncing with exchanges
- Fixed the reported crashes
- Fixed exchange rates data file was accidentally placed in the Documents folder
More skinning and bug fixes
- Finished skinning Accounts tab
- Almost finished skinning Transactions tab
- Fixed some syncing issues with various exchanges (accounts and transactions not showing)
- Fixed auto-update
- Fixed launch on login
- Fixed window placement on secondary monitors
- Re-added the send feedback option in the preferences menu
- Added the version number at the top of the preferences menu
- Various small bug fixes
Skinning, Transactions, Native Currency Display, and more!
NOTE: You must remove and re-add your Coinbase account to see transactions. You may also need to add the appropriate privileges to your other exchange API keys to see their transactions. In the future, when new features require permission changes, the experience will be much smoother.
- Skinning: We've been working on implementing the final design for Balance. It's not quite finished yet, but it's getting a lot closer! Expect a lot more polish soon.
- Transactions: You can now view transactions associated with your accounts. Please let us know if you run into any issues, as this was added recently and is not fully validated yet.
- Native Currency Display: You can now see your exchange and account totals in your native currency. By default, it will use the default currency set by your computer's locale, however you can change it in general preferences. More currency choices will be added to the preferences combo box. Prices for crypto currencies update in one per minute for real time display, while fiat currency rates update once per day.
- Bug Fixes: We've fixed some UI issues (like the app hanging past the edge of the screen if the icon is too far right) and some syncing issues (like Kraken accounts not displaying) as well as various other issues.
Known issues
- Auto launch is still having issues, those will be fixed soon.
- Exchange permissions issues are not displayed (hence the need to manually re-add Coinbase for this release). Before 1.0, we'll have a much better user experience around that.
More exchanges!
We've been working really hard getting the 1.0 release ready. Since the last beta release, we've added support for viewing your holdings at the GDAX, Poloniex, Bitfinex, and Kraken exchanges. Also, we've added the ability to monitor any Ethereum address, just enter the public address and you can watch all Ether and token balances for that address.
